How to Prevent Sore and Itchy Eyes?

You can easily prevent the problem of sore and itchy eye allergies.
My previous blog posts on itchy eyes concentrated on causes and  remedies for dry-itchy and watery-itchy eyes. But then prevention is better than cure. Now that you have treated your sore eyes, let's have a look at some of the preventive measures for this problem.

There are certain tips which can help in the prevention of all kinds of allergies or dryness or itchiness of the eyes.

·       Vacuum your home or office space regularly to reduce dust and pet hair.

·       The seasonal outdoor allergens can be avoided by shutting the windows and outlets of a room.

·       If you live in an old building or a damp place, then the mold and mildew can cause reddishness of the eyes. You can either use a dehumidifier or a professional assistance, to get rid of the problem.

·       If you work in places with frequent access to chemicals, the fumes can enter your eyes to cause long-term or short-term problems. Wearing protective glasses or frequent washing in an ophthalmic solution can prevent the harmful effect of chemicals.

·       Take frequent breaks from the computer or television. Continuous viewing can cause soreness of the eyes.

·       Use mild cleaning products at home and outside. They save the environment and your sensitive body organs.

·       Avoid using cosmetics which have crossed the expiry date. If you have been using any cosmetic prior to an eye infection, then discard them and use fresh ones after the treatment. This can prevent future recurrence of infections.

·       Do not touch your hands and fingers on the face, out of habit. You will inadvertently transfer allergens to your eyes in the process.

·       Sleep can work miracles on your eye health. Adequate sleep helps restore the thin moisturizing film coated over them, and provide your eyes with the requisite break and rest.
