How to Cure Morning Sickness During Pregnancy?

Pregnancy is generally associated with morning sickness with nausea and vomiting symptoms for most women. Whether these symptoms are morning or day long, morning sickness can be the most uncomfortable stage of pregnancy. The causes of morning sickness are exactly not known but multiple factors like a spike in hormone levels, psychological changes, sensitivity to odors and sensitivity of gastrointestinal tracts contribute to the morning sickness.

How to treat morning sickness

Doctors suggest that natural remedies are better for women who experience the nausea and vomit all day long during their pregnancy.
  • Eat high carbohydrate foods like crackers, dry roast and cereals before getting up from the bed. This can keep nausea at bay. Get up slowly from the bed and not just jump up and start walking.
  • Eat small meals three or four times a day to prevent nausea from setting in. Pregnant women prefer carbohydrates as a soother but studies have revealed that protein foods are more effective in easing nausea symptoms.
  • Cook or eat foods that do not trigger nausea. Some food items which do not form part of a balanced diet can be consumed during this period.
  • Bland foods or cold food items can help prevent nausea from setting in. Hot food items produce more aroma which can trigger the morning sickness.
  • Drink moderate quantities of fluid between meals. Cold and carbonated drinks are best to keep down nausea and vomit feeling in pregnant women.
  • Consume foods with glucose, salt and potassium to replace the lost electrolytes from the body after every vomit session.
  • Avoid all kinds of fatty foods. Do not include spices, fried and acidic foods in the diet during this phase of morning sickness.
  • Nausea can set in if the body feels tired. Take regular naps and give adequate rest to the mind and body.
  • Consult the physician for an iron free prenatal vitamin if your body is not anemic.Ginger and raspberry tea can effectively ease out morning sickness.

Morning sickness is a temporary phase of pregnancy which can be handled by natural remedies or acupressure bands. This phase will end before you realize and you will soon start enjoying your pregnancy and bonding with your baby.
